Spring Break Stay-Cation
Spring Break Stay-Cation
Spring Break is almost here for Manatee and Sarasota Counties. The breaks do fall on different weeks this year, but they’re both in March, and Florida is a vacation hot spot in March! Many colleges are on break at this time too.
Even though Florida is a vacation hot spot mainly due to our gorgeous beaches, there are plenty of fun things to do with your children away from the beach. Some don’t cost a penny! Check out some of our ideas for a perfect Stay-Cation.
Preserves
We have many preserves in our area. Preserves are a fun way to get out and enjoy nature. Your kids will have fun. Check out Robinson Preserve or the De Soto National Memorial. Both are beautiful. If your kids aren’t keen on walking, they can ride bikes too. Kayaking is also available as well as plenty of spots to fish!
Museums
We are lucky to be in an area filled with so much history. The South Florida Museum and Bishop Planetarium is right in downtown Bradenton and the Manatee Village Historical Park is nearby for a lesson in our rich history.
Spring Training
Who doesn’t love a baseball game? We have quite a few teams in the area. Here in Bradenton is Lecom Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Watching a baseball game is fun, and spring training often offers a chance to get up close to the stars.
Farms
A quick day trip to one of our local farms such as Hunsader or O’Brien family farms is a fun way to get up close to some of the resident animals and have some yummy fruit.
High Flying Fun
For some high flying fun, check out Circus Sarasota or Tree Umph. Whether you’re participating or watching, they’re both sure to be a blast.
We hope all of you have a safe and fun filled Spring Break!
