Get Your Child’s Flu Vaccine

Time to get your child’s flu vaccine.

In the last few years flu numbers have been down due to the efforts we implemented to prevent COVID such as masking and social distancing. These lower numbers were great as the flu was not adding to the COVID-stressed health system.

Unfortunately, experts are worried that this downturn in flu cases could lead to a worse flu season this year. First, they are afraid that the downturn has made people complacent and less likely to get the vaccine this year. Second, they are afraid that lower flu cases last year led to fewer people with a natural level of immunity compared to previous years.

Fewer people getting the flu vaccine along with less natural immunity could lead to a severe flu season this year. We do not know how many COVID infections are going to occur this fall/winter. A severe flu season plus a severe COVID season would stress the health system.

Do your part to keep your family safe from the flu this year. Get yourself vaccinated and call your pediatrician’s office to an appointment to get your child’s flu vaccine.
