Healthy Options in Fast Food

We are so busy taking our kids from activity to activity, that it sometimes becomes hard to cook healthy meals. More often than not, we give them junk food because it is easy and quick. Even if junk food becomes the option more often, there are still ways to limit the sugar and fat content.

  • Skip the fries and pick a fruit.USDA
  • Rather than having fried foods, get them baked or grilled.
  • Stopping by the local donut shop? Get a bagel or English muffin rather than donuts.
  • If the kids want an ice cream treat, opt for frozen yogurt.
  • Order children’s meals from the children’s menu for portion control
  • Instead of soda, have them drink water or milk.
  • Choose healthy side dishes like vegetables, fruit and salads.

Healthy food choices begin at home.  Regular exercise can also lead to healthy food choices.
