Tips to Make Back to School Easy

- Make homework more organized with apps
- Get children involved in after school activities to easily make friends
- If you are a working parent, have after school care prearranged, and have the child familiar with this process ahead of time
- Set up a calendar to schedule events and commitments to keep track of activities
- Go over your child’s weekly calendar with them so they are aware of their activities that week
- Set up an official homework station
- Set up and enforce bed times. Children between the ages of 6 and 13 need at least 9-11 hours of sleep per night
- Create rules for screen time, this includes television and hand held electronics
- The night before school allow the child to choose what they wear the next day
- If your child packs a lunch, prepare it the night before to save time in the morning
- If your child’s school allows it, pack a reusable water bottle to keep hydrated during the school day
- Schedule immunization exams, and sports exams with your child’s pediatrician
All of us at West Coast Pediatrics wish you all a healthy and successful 2020 school year!
