Seasonal Allergies
Does your car have a layer of green covering it? Spring brings pollen, causing many to suffer from allergies, the 6th leading cause of chronic illness. This year it is especially bad, and it’s being called Super Pollen. Americans suffering from allergies are in excess of 50 million.
Symptoms of seasonal allergies occur during both spring and fall. Typically, these allergies are the result of being sensitive to tree, grass, and weed pollens. Seasonal allergies usually develop by the age of ten, however they can start anytime.
Some symptoms include:
- Stuffy nose
- Sneezing
- Sore Throat
- Runny Nose
- Watery eyes
- Itching around mucus membranes
- Feeling tired
Try to have children avoid the allergic triggers. Your child will probably still want to play outside during peak allergy times (morning, and early evenings), so try these tips for some relief.
- Keep them hydrated
- Use a saline nose spray
- Use a cold compress for itchy eyes
- Wash pollen off hands & body after being outside
If allergies are still bothersome, consult your doctor about preventive treatment.
