Vaccination is the best prevention of the flu. Vaccination can reduce flu illnesses, doctor’s visits, missed school, missed work caring for a sick child, hospitalization, and death. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention recommends everyone over the age of 6 months get the seasonal flu vaccine annually. The ideal timing would be by the end of October but can be given later.
