Firework Safety For Our Children and the Entire Family

Independence Day is almost here. As we prepare for the celebration we are hearing fireworks go off in our neighborhoods. Fireworks look so harmless until it is ignited and it explodes, such an amazing sight. However, Sparklers can be fun and easy for children to use. Whether your family is using fireworks, or you are out watching a display, there are some safety precautions that should take place.

  1. Read the instructions for use. Always use fireworks outside, and don’t carry them in pockets.
  2. Adult supervision is necessary. Never give fireworks to a child, or allow them to ignite them themselves
  3. Sparklers burn at temperatures of 2,000 degrees. They seem fun and harmless, but young children can be injured while using them.
  4. If a firework is a dud, don’t reignite it.
  5. Have a hose, or a bucket of water nearby.
  6. Don’t point fireworks towards another person.
  7. Keep a safe distance between yourself and fireworks.
  8. Dispose of fireworks properly.
  9. Make sure the fireworks you are buying and using are legal in your area.
  10. Use common sense when handling fireworks of any kind.
