Get Your Child Outdoors for a Fun, Learning Experience

Families have spent a lot of time inside this past year. It’s time to get away from the screens and get your child outdoors. Did you know there are many Eco Events created by the Manatee County Parks & Natural Resources every month? So get outdoors and have some fun while learning about Florida nature. Just remember your mask, hand sanitizer, and maintain a social distance. Here are just a few of their upcoming Eco Events:

Rye Cemetery Preservation and Beautification

Date:  Thursday, Mar 11th
Time:  9 – 11:30 AM
Place:  Rye Preserve

Wildlife Spotlight:  Fungi

Date:  Friday, Mar 12th

Place:  Conservatory Park – Pavilion

Master Gardener Tour

Time:  9 – 11 AM
Place:  Riverview Pointe Preserve

Learn about Florida’s native plants and inhabitants as you stroll through this beautiful preserve. Suitable for all ages. Tour begins in the parking area of DeSoto National Memorial Park and enters into Riverview Pointe Preserve. Reservations are required. Learn about Florida’s native plants and inhabitants as you stroll through this beautiful preserve. Suitable for all ages. Please meet at the first parking area on the RIGHT at the Observation Tower (not at the classroom) at 9 AM. Reservations are required. Saturday Mornings at the Nest

Date:  Saturday, Mar 13th
Time:  9 AM – 12 PM
Place:  Robinson Preserve – Mosaic Nest

Walk the grounds of the historic Reasoner Tract and observe botanical giants collected from around the world. Explore the canopy boardwalk among the banyans, climb to the top of the crow’s nest, take in breathtaking panoramic views, and make an exciting exit from the building via slide. Learn about upcoming programs and exciting new additions to Robinson Preserve. Program suitable for all ages. Face coverings are required to enter the building. No reservations are required. Families Flock Together: Cuban Ranchos

Families Flock Together: Native American Experience

Date:  Saturday, Mar 13th
Time:  2 – 4 PM
Place:  Emerson Point Preserve – Large Pavilion

Take a guided tour around the largest temple mound of the Tampa Bay area and discover for yourself what life was like for Native Americans on Snead Island. Learn all about the skills practiced by Florida’s early inhabitants at our different tour stops: Measure the distance you can throw a spear with an atlatl, explore ancient fishing gear, and practice your fire-building skills. Hoop Dance
