Swimming Pool Safety – Tips from Bradenton Pediatrician

Summer is here, and while activities like swimming are a fun way to cool off, it’s important to learn basic pool safety tips to keep your family safe. Bradenton pediatrician Dr. Charles-Logan with West Coast Pediatrics provides tips to stay safe.

The American Academy of Pediatrics supports swimming lessons for most children 4 years and older, and for children 1 to 4 years of age who are ready to learn how to swim.

An adult should actively watch children at all times while they are in the pool.

  • You may also use door alarms and automatic pool covers.
  • To prevent small children from entering the pool, there should be a fence that completely surrounds the pool or spa.
  • There should be no running on the pool deck.
  • No diving in a pool that is not deep enough.
