Winter Fun in Manatee County
The Lipizzan Horses are back! Watch the pride of the Austrian Empire’s Spanish Riding School as these rare horses perform their classical equestrian moves. Winter training sessions for these horses are open to the public now through April 28th. Training sessions take place Thursdays and Fridays at 3pm and Saturdays at 10am. Donations are accepted for the care of the animals. For directions and show times, call 322-1501.
Daikin Dairy Farms offers tours most days at 11 am. The public can visit and learn “Where Milk Comes From” and how milk travels from the cow to the bottle. After your tour, you may choose to enjoy attractions such as a corn maze, cow train ride, and a play area. Check the schedule before your visit.
Bradenton Motorsports Park is your destination for professional drag racing, grudge racing, as well as open sessions all on a ¼ mile drag strip. Events take place Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It’s an exciting time and some events are free to children 12 and under!
The Florida Railroad Museum is one of the most unique museum experiences in the world and is open 10am-4pm Wednesday through Sunday year round with Diesel train rides on Saturdays and Sundays departing at 11am and 12pm. In addition to their regular train rides, they have special events scheduled throughout the year featuring themed train rides. Some of these events may have separate schedules so please check the schedule.
The South Florida Museum is the largest natural and cultural history museum on Florida’s Gulf Coast. The museum has permanent exhibits which include the all-digital Bishop Planetarium, and the Parker Manatee Rehabilitation Aquarium. It also features temporary exhibitions which are constantly changing. There are many opportunities for educational trips as well such as Family Nights at the Museum taking place on the first Saturday of most months. The museum stays open late for a whole evening of family fun and each month has a new theme!
